Situated amid the picturesque countryside of County Antrim in Northern Ireland lies the collection of towns that make up the larger urban conurbation of Newtownabbey.
The area is home to over 60,000 inhabitants and is made up of the towns Ballyduff, Carnmoney, Glengormley, Jordanstown, Monkstown, Rathcoole and Whiteabbey.
Being the largest town (that it not a city) in the whole of Ireland, Newtownabbey has many differing facets. Primarily the town consists of a large number of modern residential areas with accompanying retail and leisure centres alongside a variety of high-tech and manufacturing industries - engineering and computers being particularly well represented - that provide much of the local employment as well as much of its tourism.
Due to the fact the borough is made up of a number of towns, it also offers many areas of natural beauty popular with visitors and residents alike outside the main urban centres.
